ENMU-ROSWELL HVACR PROGRAM GRANTED ACCREDITATION

The Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning-Refrigeration (HVACR) program at ENMU-Roswell has received continued accreditation through HVAC Excellence. In order to receive accreditation, the program completed a detailed, comprehensive self-study that demonstrated compliance with established, industry-accepted standards. These standards are designed to ensure students receive the quality training required for success in the HVACR industry. The program at ENMU-Roswell is under the leadership of Caleb Cain, HVACR instructor.

After approving the self-study, the accreditation review board sent a team to campus to conduct an intense, onsite review of the program. The onsite team validated compliance with all the established standards and the accuracy of the self-study. The team members are seasoned professionals that possess the knowledge, training, and experience to successfully evaluate every aspect of an HVACR program. Following a thorough review of documentation presented and the onsite accreditation team recommendation, the HVAC Excellence accreditation review board unanimously granted accreditation of the program.

With national accreditation status, ENMU-Roswell can assure prospective students and employer partners that the program has met or exceeded national standards and has the resources and administrative support to professionally train the workforce. Projected employment for HVACR technicians is expected to increase 15 percent by 2026, according to U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. It notes that commercial and residential building construction is expected to drive employment growth. The growing number of sophisticated climate-control systems is also expected to increase demand for qualified HVACR technicians.

ENMU-Roswell began offering HVACR courses in 2005. Students can now receive a Certificate of Occupational Training in HVAC and a Certificate of Employability in Commercial Refrigeration. An Associate of Applied Science degree in HVACR Technology is also offered. “When I started teaching here, we had five students in the program,” said Cain. “We now have over 60 students and our graduates are finding good-paying jobs.”

“I am very proud of this program and want to thank Caleb Cain, our outstanding HVACR Advisory Committee, our academic advisors, and the campus staff for their continued contributions to support this program,” said Ron Flury, Interim Assistant Vice President, Technical Education. The next HVACR classes will start January 18, 2022. For more information, contact Cain at 575-624-7088.
