Water Conservation

Turn off the Tap!

Make a meaningful difference in preserving this vital resource! Simple steps and changes in your daily routine, like fixing leaky faucets, turning off the tap while brushing your teeth, and using water-efficient appliances, can significantly reduce waste. Plant native or drought-resistant vegetation, practice rainwater harvesting for outdoor needs, and consider installing a low-flow shower head to further conserve water. Every drop saved contributes to protecting our planet’s limited freshwater supply, ensuring there’s enough for future generations.

Conserving water in daily habits, like turning off the tap while brushing your teeth or using less water during showers, is a simple yet powerful way to make a difference. These small actions save gallons of water each day, helping to protect our planet’s limited freshwater resources since nearly 97% of the world’s water is undrinkable. Shortening your shower time, installing water-saving fixtures, and only running dishwashers or washing machines with full loads are easy steps to reduce water waste.

Be aware of these water-use facts and take action:

  • A water-efficient dishwasher uses as little as 4 gallons per cycle, but hand-washing dishes uses 20 gallons of water
  • On average, a person uses about 80-100 gallons of water per day
  • A single toilet flush can use up to 7 gallons of water
  • Taking a shower can use anywhere from 2 to 5 gallons of water per minute
  • A bath can use 80 gallons of water, whereas a 10-minute shower uses 50 gallons of water
  • A washing machine uses about 25-40 gallons of water per load
  • A leaking faucet can waste up to 3,000 gallons of water per year

Join the movement and take action today—because water conservation starts with you!
