Roswell, New Mexico – April 2, 2024 – The Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) program at Eastern New Mexico University-Roswell is proud to announce a significant milestone in its journey toward excellence in education and healthcare. The Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE) has officially upgraded the program’s status from Continuing Accreditation-Probationary to full Accreditation, effective March 23, 2024.

Dr. Vanessa Stroman, the esteemed leader of the OTA program, expressed her gratitude and pride in the collective efforts that led to this achievement. “I am incredibly grateful and proud to have had the opportunity to work alongside such an outstanding team,” said Dr. Stroman. “Words cannot convey my appreciation for our collective efforts, and it brings me great joy to announce that we have achieved accreditation!”

The OTA program’s commitment to excellence is further evidenced by its impressive National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) pass rates. In 2023, the pass rate was 100%, followed by 85% in 2022 and 87% in 2021, demonstrating consistent dedication to preparing students for success in their careers.

About the OTA Program:

At ENMU-Roswell, students can pursue an Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) Associate of Applied Science degree and learn to work in this rewarding and dynamic healthcare field. Occupational therapy practitioners assist individuals whose lives have been affected by physical or mental illness or injury, helping them regain independence in their daily activities. The program prepares students to work with diverse populations across the lifespan, from infants and children to working-age adults and older individuals.

Occupational therapy practitioners play a vital role in facilitating rehabilitation and improving the quality of life for their clients. Under the guidance of an occupational therapist (OTR), OTAs implement therapeutic interventions, document progress, and provide essential feedback to support clients’ recovery and well-being.
