High School Students at ENMU-Roswell

ENMU-Roswell offers high school students the opportunity to get a head start on their college education. Dual Credit and Concurrent Enrollment students can take classes on their high school campus, ENMU-Roswell campus, or even online.

At many local high schools, college courses are taught on the high school campus by high school and college faculty. Highly qualified high school teachers who teach dual enrollment courses have met the same requirements as our on-campus faculty and are hired, part-time instructors of ENMU-Roswell.

Dual and Concurrent Enrollment students can also sign up for courses on the ENMU-Roswell campus. Student’s course choices on the ENMU-Roswell campus must be approved by high school officials to be counted as dual enrollment on the high school transcript. High school students also have the option of signing up for a course to receive college credit only.

What is a Dual Credit Course?

Dual Credit courses are college courses taken for both high school and college credit while you are in high school. The courses need to be approved by both your high school and the college where you want to take courses, so check with your high school counselor first. Courses must be able to apply toward a post-secondary degree or certificate program. Remedial and developmental courses at the college may not be taken for Dual Credit, since they do not count toward a degree or certificate program.

Why Consider Dual Credit Courses?

There are several reasons. First you get to experience a little bit of college while still in high school to help you get a head start determining what you want out of college. Another good reason is you can get some college credits without spending any money or using any financial aid. Finally, you may not feel your are sufficiently challenged by your high school courses; the Dual Credit program can allow you to try some more interesting coursework.
