We’re bringing back the Mileage Club! This program is designed for individual participation, with the goal of reaching a certain number of miles over a week, month, or semester. Participants who hit milestones (e.g., 10, 15, 25 miles, etc.) will earn rewards like certificates or an ENMU-Roswell T-shirt to celebrate their achievements. At the end of the fall semester, we will recognize the Top 3 Mileage Club winners.

Eligibility: You must be an ENMU-Roswell staff member, student, or faculty member to participate

The Mileage Club offers numerous benefits to those who participate. This self-paced program allows individuals to challenge themselves to add more miles to their personal best record, which encourages healthy competition among peers. Participants can walk or run in the Basketball court while keeping track of their progress using a hand-held counter available at the front desk.

Overall, participating in the Mileage Club is a great way to improve your physical fitness and well-being while enjoying a fun and supportive atmosphere. Regular exercise has been proven to reduce stress, anxiety, and depression levels while boosting self-esteem and mood. Additionally, participating in this program can help prevent weight gain, lower blood pressure, and increase bone density.

The Mileage Club is ideal for participants of all ages and fitness levels. Whether you are a seasoned runner looking to maintain your pace or just starting on your journey to better health, the club provides the environment for achieving your goals. The gym honors milestones by placing a footprint with the participant’s name, which serves as a symbol of achievement and motivation to keep pushing forward.

Basketball Court

The basketball court facilitates various activities such as playing basketball, volleyball, indoor soccer, and using it as an indoor track for participants of the Mileage Club. The court has proper dimensions and markings according to standard regulations, providing a great space for sports enthusiasts to enjoy their favorite games or participate in organized events.

Weight Room

Our weightlifting room consists of various types of free weights, such as dumbbells, barbells, and kettlebells, along with weight machines. The equipment is arranged to allow for different exercises targeting specific muscle groups, including legs, arms, chest, back, and shoulders.
Lifting weights as part of a regular exercise routine offers numerous health benefits. It helps build strong bones and muscles, improves posture and balance, reduces the risk of injury, and increases overall physical strength. Additionally, weightlifting can enhance cardiovascular fitness, boost metabolism, and contribute to weight loss or maintenance.

Furthermore, lifting weights has mental health benefits as well. It can help reduce stress, improve self-esteem, and promote better sleep. Overall, incorporating regular weightlifting into one’s exercise routine provides numerous physical and mental health advantages that can lead to a more active and healthy lifestyle.

Cardio Room

Visitors to the gym can expect to find a variety of cardio workout equipment designed to improve their overall fitness and health. These machines are located on the second level and include treadmills, stationary bikes, elliptical trainers, and rowing machines.
  • Treadmills are one of the most popular cardio machines. They allow users to walk or run at different speeds to provide an excellent aerobic workout that can help burn calories, improve heart health, and increase stamina.
  • Rowing Machines provide a full-body workout by engaging the arms, legs, and core muscles simultaneously. They can also help build strength in the back, shoulders, and chest.
  • Elliptical Trainers offer gym-goers a low-impact exercise similar to running but without the stress on joints and ligaments. This makes them ideal for those who might be recovering from injuries or who may have knee issues.
  • Stationary Bikes provide a gentle workout that focuses on the legs while also engaging the core muscles. They are great for building endurance, strengthening the lower body, and improving overall balance.

Racquetball Courts

Racquetball is a sport similar to squash and handball that can be played indoors or outdoors on a court with walls. The game involves hitting a hollow rubber ball with a racquet towards the front wall, then bouncing it off the floor and returning it without letting it hit any of the side walls. We have four indoor courts available, two of which are private. Please talk to a staff member at the front desk to learn about court etiquette, equipment, and rules.
The benefits of playing racquetball include improving cardiovascular fitness, burning calories, increasing flexibility, enhancing hand-eye coordination, and developing problem-solving skills. It also provides an excellent form of stress relief due to its fast-paced nature.

There are two main variations of racquetball: singles and doubles. In singles, each player plays against one another on the same side of the court with a serve every time the ball goes into play. This variation requires more individual strategies as there is no partner to assist with covering all areas of the court.

In doubles, two teams of two players compete against each other across the net in half of the court. Teamwork and communication are crucial here since both players must cover their respective sides of the court and help out when the ball goes into play on their partner’s side. Doubles often offers more variety and excitement due to the additional player involved in the action.

Overall, racquetball is an excellent sport for anyone looking for a fun and challenging way to stay fit, improve coordination, and develop teamwork skills. With its simple rules and equipment requirements, it can be enjoyed by players of all ages and skill levels.
