About our Agriculture Program

Our Agriculture Program at ENMU-Roswell is designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary for a successful career in the dynamic field of agriculture. Offering an Associate of Science degree, the program emphasizes flexibility, stability, and the opportunity to make a meaningful impact in your community. In addition to the degree, we provide an Agricultural Mechanics Technology Certificate of Employability, which focuses on the technical skills required for agricultural equipment maintenance and repair, enhancing your employability and expertise in the industry.

Degree Programs

Agricultural Science and Technology A. S.

Associate of Science


The A.S. degree in Agricultural Science and Technology's curriculum is designed to prepare students for entry-level positions in agriculture or transfer to a four-year program. The curriculum includes a wide range of classes, such as Ag communication, Ag economics, animal sciences, dairy, plants/soils, and Ag machinery/mechanization. Due to the vast offerings with this degree, students can explore the diverse options within the agriculture world to find where their interests most align.

Due to compliance with S.B. 77, the A.S. degree in Agricultural Science and Technology transfers into a Bachelor of Science degree in Animal and Dairy Science or a Bachelor of Applied Arts and Sciences with an Animal Science emphasis at ENMU Portales without any loss of credit. Students should work with an advisor at the receiving university if they are planning to transfer.


Program Learning Outcomes


  • Students will understand and demonstrate Agriculture content, disciplinary concepts and tools, and methods of inquiry related to discovery through public/class presentations as defined by professional agricultural associations.
  • Students will understand and demonstrate Animal Science/Pre-Veterinarian math content, and methods of inquiry related to mathematical discovery as defined by professional animal science associations.
  • Students will understand and demonstrate writing skills commiserate with Animal Science/Pre-Veterinarian content. In addition to style formats as defined by professional animal science associations.
  • Graduating students will be employable in their field, enter professional school or pursue advanced degrees.

Agricultural Mechanics Technology C. O. E.

Certificate of Employability


The Agriculture Mechanics and Technology program provides a proper balance of theory and practical application for students preparing for careers in agricultural mechanics and agricultural technology industries. Certifications will provide a head start to possible employment as mechanics, machinery and equipment technicians, parts specialists, machinery and equipment salespersons, maintenance technicians, plant operations managers, ag service managers, and agricultural equipment repair technicians.

The curriculum emphasizes basic hands-on experience in the areas of hand and power tools; welding technology; diesel and gasoline engines; electrical systems; off-road machinery; computerized control systems; transmissions and power trains; and hydraulic systems. Additional experience may be provided to students in the area of machinery operation and management. Through possible internships with local ag industry leaders, students gain valuable on-the-job experience as they apply what they have learned in class.
